Kantorei der Kreuzkirche München-Schwabing Conductor Ursula Leicht Svapinga Consort on historical instruments

In the last concert of the season we present a programme together with the Kantorei of the Kreuzkirche under the direction of Ursula Leicht. We had to interrupt this connection due to the pandemic, but this season will hopefully allow us to make a breakthrough in our collaboration with the church choir, which is well known to the Schwabing audience. The concert will focus on composers who had very strong connections to Jesuit circles or even worked as missionaries around the world.

Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1643-1704) came into the service of the Paris Jesuits in 1687 – first as maître de musique at their Collège Louis-le-Grand, then at the church of Saint-Louis. The other composer on the programme – Domenico Zipoli (1688-1726) – originally from Italy, ended his life in a Jesuit mission in Latin America.

But we will also perform original songs of the indigenous people from the “New World”, giving our listeners an insight into diverse musical traditions of the time.
